Ranae Moran is joined by Michael Butterman, Music Director for the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, on this "Spotlight" to talk about the documentary film, "Following the Ninth," which explores the impact of Beethoven's final symphony and its timeless global impact, including its ability to bring unity, healing and restoration amid some of the most troubling and historic events. A staggering sixty-four percent of Louisiana children are not considered to be flourishing. Ranae Moran is joined on this Health Matters by Laura Alderman, Director of The Institute for Childhood Resilience, at LSU Health Shreveport, and Dr. Pamela McPherson, Vice-Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at LSU Health Shreveport, who will provide information about ACEs, the effects on children, and how the Institute for Childhood Resilience is working in the community to help children become more resilient. This subsequently brought her into contact with victims of human trafficking, specifically women who were sex trafficked. In 2007, Cassie founded the Hub Ministries, initially to assist the homeless through their Lovewell program. The Hub grew to include their Purchased ministry, helping women and children who have been victims of trafficking. Both programs offer a path to restoration. On this episode of Illuminations, Ranae Moran talks with Cassie to learn more about trafficking and the Hub Ministries.
