Each week, host Kermit Poling brings you recent performances by one of our popular symphony orchestras. These broadcasts have become a popular part of our broadcast schedule. Tune in and see why!

NEW SEASON
May 31 - The 2021 Symphony on the Square with the South Arkansas Symphony, featuring soprano Maddison Gilcrease and tenor Aiden Poling for a program of pops and patriotic music.

May 24 - A concert by the Marshall Symphony Orchestra featuring organist Charles Gilbert, performing music of Poulenc, Holst and more.

May 17 - Pianist Parker Van Ostrand and tenor Randall Rushing perform with the South Arkansas Symphony, conducted by Kermit Poling, performing music of Mozart and more.

May 10 - Michael Butterman conducts the Shreveport Symphony for a concert that includes Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue along with a premiere of Peter Boyer's Rhapsody in red, White and Blue. Featured guest pianist is Jeffrey Biegel.

May 3 - The Shreveport Symphony features a concert of "dynamic duos", works for pairs of soloists with orchestra, along with other orchestral music by Warlock and Ravel.

April 26 - Michael Butterman conducts a concert of great film music composed by John Williams.

April 19 - Wideman winner Parker Van Ostrand performs Dvorak's Piano Quintet with members of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra on a chamber concert recorded last January.

April 12 - Pianist Parker Van Ostrand performs the 1st Piano Concerto of Brahms with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.

April 5 - Kermit Poling conducts his original score to Beauty and the Beast from a performance by the Arkansas Festival Ballet and the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.

March 29 - a special Easter presentation of Handel's Messiah, from a 1998 archival recording by the Shreveport Symphony and area choruses and soloists.

March 1 - Pianist Jeffrey Biegel performs the Louisiana premiere of Peter Boyer's Rhapsody in Red White and Blue, plus Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Michael Butterman also conducts Hanson's "Romantic" Symphony and music of Debussy.

February 23 - The Marshall Symphony, conducted by Kermit Poling, performs a concert of music from Finland, including a performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto by violinist Calvin Alexander.

February 16 - The Shreveport Symphony's opening concert from the current season, conducted by Michael Butterman, with special guest violinist Simone Porter. Also, a bonus performance from the symphony archives - New Morning for the World, from a performance recorded in January of 2000, conducted by Kay George Roberts.

February 9, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, performed by the Marshall Symphony, conducted by Kermit Poling, featuring area soloists and the combined choirs from ETBU and Wiley College.

February 2 - Wideman winner Parker Van Ostrand performs Dvorak's Piano Quintet with members of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra on a chamber concert recorded last month.

January 26 - Mandolinist Jeff Midkiff performs his "From the Blue Ridge" concerto with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra.

January 19 - The South Arkansas Symphony performs Kermit Poling's ballet "Beauty and the Beast"

January 12 - The Shreveport Symphony performs Tchaikovsky Symphony #4, conducted by Michael Butterman. Simone Porter is the featured guest violinist.

January 5 - The Marshall Symphony Orchestra is joined by Juanita Miller Competition winner Vatsal Vemuri for a concert featuring Beethoven and more.

December 29 - Michael Butterman conducts the Shreveport Symphony for a concert that includes Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue along with a premiere of Peter Boyer's Rhapsody in red, White and Blue. Featured guest pianist is Jeffrey Biegel.

December 8 - The Shreveport Symphony performs a family concert including music of Mozart, Ravel and Poling

December 1 - A performance by the Shreveport Symphony conducted by Michael Butterman featuring pianist Crystal Jiang with music of Beethoven and Prokofiev.

November 24 - The Arkansas Festival Ballet performs Beauty and the Beast, a ballet by Kermit Poling, performed by the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.

November 17 - Mandolinist Jeff Midkiff performs his Blue Ridge mandolin concerto with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra.

November 10 - Guitarist Lily Afshar performs the world premiere of the Persian Guitar Concerto by Kermit Poling, with the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra

November 3 - The world premiere of The Angels Gathered symphony, from a performance of the Shreveport Summer Music Festival and area choruses and soloists.

Sept. 29 - The South Arkansas Symphony performs the ballet Beauty and the Beast, composed by Kermit Poling, from earlier this month.

Sept. 22 - Violinist William Hagen performs chamber music with members of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.

Sept 15 - From the 2023 Shreveport Summer Music Festival, the opening concert, featuring music of Mozart, Respighi and more. Guest soloist is violinist Calvin Alexander.

Sept. 8 - A pops concert performed by the South Arkansas Symphony.

August 25 - The South Arkansas Symphony performs You Heard it at the Movies

August 18 - The South Arkansas Symphony features Broadway star Craig Schulman for a program called Monsters and Madmen.

August 11 - The Marshall Symphony performs a concert of Baroque Music, featuring players of the orchestra

August 4 - The South Arkansas Symphony performs music of Respighi, Poling and Bartok. Guitarist Lily Afshar is featured.

July 28 - Violinist William Hagen performs chamber music with members of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.

July 14 - from the opening concert of the 2023 Shreveport Summer Music Festival, music of Respighi, Mozart and Bacewicz, featuring guest violinist Calvin Alexander playing Mozart's 5th Violin concerto.

July 7 - from this past November, phenomenal Cuban pianist/composer Aldo López-Gavilán performs with the Shreveport Symphony in a program celebrating music of the Americas, plus Ravel’s sultry Boléro. Native son James Eakin’s Cloud Scraper: Symphony Americana, commissioned by the SSO, receives its world premiere.

August 19 - A concert from this past June, featuring the music of Poulenc and Dvorak, performed by the Shreveport Summer Music Festival orchestra with guest organist Ken Cowan.

August 12 - The South Arkansas Symphony performs an All-Rachmaninoff concert, featuring the Symphony Dances and more.

August 5 - The Shreveport Symphony performs music of Mendelssohn on a program called Viva Italia!

July 29 - Broadway Star Craig Schulman performs a program of hit songs from musicals highlighting Monsters and Mad Men of the stage with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra

July 22 - Violinist Calvin Alexander performs Sibelius's Violin Concerto on a concert by the Marshall Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kermit Poling.

July 15 - From the 2022 Shreveport Summer Music Festival, Kermit Poling conducts Dvorak's Serenade for Strings. Organ virtuoso Ken Cowan performs Poulenc's Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings.

July 8 - Violinist Jennifer Carsillo and pianist Simone Dinnerstein perform a chamber music concert, including works by Glass and Beethoven.

July 1 - The South Arkansas symphony performs the annual Symphony on the Square in this archived concert featuring bass Keron Jackson.

June 24 - A program from the archives of the Shreveport Summer Music Festival

December 3 - The Shreveport Symphony performs music of Bloch and Bach, with special guest pianist Simone Dinnerstein.

November 26 - Violinist Jennifer Carsillo and pianist Simone Dinnerstein perform a chamber music concert, including works by Glass and Beethoven.

September 17 - The Marshall Symphony performs a program of Baroque Music.

September 10 - Shades of America, a concert by the South Arkansas Symphony featuring music of Copland, Poling and more.

September 3 - The 2021 Symphony on the Square, performed by the South Arkansas Symphony and featuring vocalists Maddison Gilcrease and Aiden Poling

Aug. 27 -  Pianist Alon Goldstein performs Beethoven's Emperor piano concerto with the Shreveport Symphony, conducted by Michael Butterman.

Aug. 20 - Organist Charles Gilbert jons Kermit Poling and the Marshall Symphony for music of Poulenc, Holst, Walker and Bach.

Aug 13  A program of Beethoven and more, performed by the Marshall Symphony Orchestra.  Vatsal Vemuri, winner of the Juanita Miller Competition, is the featured guest artists.   

Aug 6 2021 - The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Butterman, performs the 4th symphony of Mahler.   Features soprano Janani Sridhar.   

July 30 - A performance featuring pianist Alon Goldstein, performing music of Mendelssohn with the South Arkansas Symphony.

July 24 -  Two brief concerts performed by the Shreveport Symphony this past October.   Features an all string concert with special guest Calvin Alexander and an all wind concert of Mozart's Gran Partita

July 17 - Carmina Burana, as performed by the South Arkansas Symphony and over 250 choral singers from Arkansas and Texas.   Conducted by Kermit Poling.

July 10, The Marshall Symphony is joined by organist Charles Gilbert for a concert of music by Bach, Poulenc and more.

July 3, The South Arkansas Symphony perfoms a concert of patriotic and pops favorites.

June 25, 2021 - The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Butterman, performs the 4th symphony of Mahler.   Features soprano Janani Sridhar.
