Community Service Report
The purpose of this section is to give you an opportunity to learn about us and about the activities we have engaged in to address community needs by outlining key services provided, and the local value and impact of those services.
Local News: Each weekday morning, our News Director Jeff Ferrell hosts local news from 5 a.m..-9 a.m.., breaking into Morning Edition to bring you informative and intriguing news from our region. You will also
hear his voice announcing throughout Morning Edition. Reporter Alaina Atnip gathers interesting stories from around our region and can be heard in morning news and afternoons.
Health Matters: Health Matters airs live every Thursday evening, 6-7 p.m. Produced by Red River Radio’s Ranae Moran, Health Matters is hosted by physicians Dr. Randall Brewer, Dr. Sanford Katz and Dr. Patrick Lavo, Dr. Anand Bhat and social worker Jenny
Gregorio. Health Matters features health information on a variety of topics with guest health professionals from throughout the region.
Artist Spotlight Series: Red River Radio’s Spotlight Series features interviews at noon with local arts organizations. Spotlight interviews air throughout weekdays and are
scheduled upon request.
Conserving Earth Hosted by Janice Bezanson, Laura-Ashley Overdyke and Rebecca Triche, Conserving Earth airs the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. The show features experts discussing wildlife and our natural resources, and what we can do to preserve and enjoy our environment.
Bird Calls with ornithologist Cliff Shackelford, airs the second Tuesday of each month, 6-7 p.m. Cliff provides info on our feathered friends and how they affect the environment.
Calls are taken from the audience.
Teach, Reach, Inspire Host Tracey Burrell interviews teachers, principals, coaches and other professionals about their work in education with the hope of inspiring future educators.
The Better Picture with Ross Foote helps people learn more about photography. Ross provided tips and tricks to help the average person take better pictures. Each show includes a local guest photographer from the region. Calls are also taken from the audience.
Classic Jazz with Ki'Ara LaFitte
Mondays 9 p.m.-midnight, Ki'Ara plays her favorite jazz tunes form classic jazz to contemporary and everything in between.
Jazz Out! with Andy B. Wednesday nights 9 p.m.-midnight, Andy B, takes us on a jazz adventure around the world. So, TUNE IN, TURN ON and
JAZZ OUT!
Swing Night with Mark Pizzolato. Thursday nights 9-midnight Mark plays the greatest swing hits from past to present from Glenn Miller to Seth MacFarlane, Harry Connick Jr. and more.
Crooners After Hours with Mark Pizzolato features artists mostly from the 40s, 50s and 60s such as Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and many more, as well as some
modern crooners. Crooners After Hours airs Monday at 8 p.m.
Acoustic Hour with Mark Pizzolato features instrumental acoustic music and airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. provides an opportunity for local musicians to
be heard within a large broadcast region.
Rhythm Gumbo & Blue Shadows
are both hosted and produced by John Ellis, featuring blues music. Rhythm Gumbo airs Saturday, midnight- 3 a.m., and Blue Shadows
airs Saturday, 3-6 a.m.
Regional Symphony hosted by Kermit Poling, features full-length performances from orchestras in our broadcast region, Fridays noon-2 p.m.
House Concerts Series features recorded local concert performances by artists from around the country, 8-9 p.m. Thursdays.
Visions and Ventures Host Shannon Johnson, Interviews entrepreneurs and business leaders about how they built their businesses, their advice and vison for the future.
Community Connections Hosted by Heather Carpenter with the institute of Non-Profit Administration and Research (INAR) at LSUS, Community Connections highlight the incredible
work of local non-profit leaders and lets us know how we can be involved in our community.
Illuminations Hosted by Ranae Moran, Illuminations presents interesting people, stories and events. Through personal interviews, you will meet people who are making changes in the world through their ideas, actions and faith. From stories of working with the poor to helping refugees to redemption and forgiveness.
About Faith About Faith aims to gain knowledge and understanding of one another through respectful conversations on meaningful topics with faith leaders in our community. The show features a rotating panel representing a variety of faiths.
Louisiana Haywire Through interviews and musical performances, Louisiana Haywire explores the far-reaching influence of our vibrant and rich musical story, hosted by Dan Garner and Winston Hall.

Borderline with Gary Borders. Longtime newspaperman and author Gary Borders, from East Texas, brings his thoughtful writings to
voice on air each Friday, covering a variety of life topics.
History Matters with Dr. Gary Joiner. Dr Joiner discusses historical people, places and events from around the region. Dr. Joiner is a history professor, documentarian, author, and cartographer. Dr. Joiner is regularly invited to
speak locally and nationally.
Shadow Files with Dr. Cheryl White presents information about local lore and urban myths, providing facts on the origination of tales such
as Big Foot, ghost stories and more. Dr. White is a historian, documentarian, and author,
frequently called on to speak locally and nationally.
