TEXAS "CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY" GUN BILL - Texas lawmakers will not vote this year on whether to allow people to carry handguns without a license. That’s the word from the man behind the bill that would create what supporters call “Constitutional Carry.” State representative Jonathan Stickland, Republican from Bedford, says it’s too late in the legislative session for the bill to have a realistic chance of passing. But he also says in a video posted on his Facebook page that the tactics of some gun rights advocates pushing for the bill have wound up sabotaging the effort.
“I am saddened by the acts of a few individuals that have stolen the conversation about legislation that I deeply care about. I have been the recipient of bad behavior in the past, and I know the toll it can take on legislators families.”
Stickland appears to be referring to the actions of Lone Star Gun Rights executive director Chris McNutt. A Brazoria County news outlet called The Facts reports McNutt visited the homes of some House leaders including the neighborhood of Speaker Dennis Bonnen in Lake Jackson, where DPS troopers were expecting him.
