TRUMP CALLS OUT CASSIDY – The Conservative Political Action Conference – CPAC wrapped up its week long meeting in Orlando, Florida yesterday with a keynote speech by former President Donald Trump. Trump’s address ranged from repeating his claim that the 2020 Presidential election was rigged, to criticizing the Biden Administrations first month in office. He also took time to take a swipe at Republican Senators who had voted for his 2nd impeachment and criticized his administration for the January 6th insurrection on the Nation’s Capitol.
“The Democrats don't have grand-standers like Mitt Romney, little Ben Sasse, Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey," Trump said.
Republican Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana was one of the seven Republican Senators who Trump called out during his CPAC address. During an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Cassidy was asked about his party’s future if Trump remains an influential part of the GOP.
"Now, if we plan to win in 2022 and 2024, we have to listen to the voters, not just those who really like President Trump, but also those who perhaps are less sure," Senator Bill Cassidy (R) Louisiana
"Now, if we plan to win in 2022 and 2024, we have to listen to the voters, not just those who really like President Trump, but also those who perhaps are less sure," Cassidy said. "If we do, if we speak to the voters who are less sure who went from President Trump to President Biden, we win. If we don't, we lose. That is a reality that we have to confront."
Cassidy said that the Republican party’s recent loss of the presidency, control of the house, and senate hasn’t happened to the GOP since Republican President Herbert Hoover’s loss in 1932 to Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
