Louisiana School Testing Scores Rise for 3rd Straight Year

According to the nation’s report card, Louisiana 4th graders led the country in reading growth. And economically disadvantaged 4th graders moved from 42nd all the way to 11th.

For the third year in a row, Louisiana’s statewide school performance score has increased, and most districts and schools also improved, according to data released Wednesday. That state score (80.2%) is now at its highest level under the current scoring system.
As Aubri Juhasz with Louisiana Public Radio reports, Louisiana State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley says the state is clearly going in the right direction. “That tells us that our academic strategy is the right one. We just have to keep working hard and making smart decisions to keep pushing forward.”
In the U.S. News and World Report states ranking, Louisiana has earned its highest national ranking ever, moving up from 46th to 40th. According to the nation’s report card, Louisiana 4th graders led the country in reading growth. And economically disadvantaged 4th graders moved from 42nd all the way to 11th.

*In Northwest and North Central Louisiana, three school districts earned an A grade:
DeSoto (95.8%)
Lincoln (92.9)
Vernon (92.1)

*All other school district in the same area received a B grade:
Bienville (83.1%)
Bossier (85.2)
Caddo (75.7)
Grant (85.3)
Natchitoches (83.5)
Rapides (83)
Red River (77.4)
Sabine (87.3)
Webster (75.7)
Winn (78.8)
