HOLIDAY CONCERNS - Yesterday during his regularly scheduled Covid-19 update, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards warned that an Increase in hospitalizations is on a trajectory Louisiana can't sustain. During his press conference, Edwards shared his concerns about the current rate of Covid-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths in Louisiana after the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.
"I am absolutely confident that hundreds of families will go through Christmas without a loved one because we lost that person because of what happened at Thanksgiving," Edwards explained.
Edwards is asking everyone to avoid having large family gatherings over the Christmas Holiday as doing so may increase community spread of the virus.
"Everybody has a role to play, it is extremely important,"Edwards said. "And it has never been more urgent than it is right now. There is more Covid in Louisiana right now than at any time in this pandemic."

Edwards made his statements after he had explained Louisiana’s Covid-19 vaccination priority plans once the Pfizer vaccine is released for distribution. Louisiana’s first allocation is for about 39,000, a second batch would be about 40,000. Anticipated delivery could be in a matter of days pending FDA approval.
