A PRE-OSCARS CELEBRATION IN SHREVEPORT -  Hollywood celebrates the best in Movies  with the Academy Awards this Sunday.  On Saturday evening, Shreveport’s Robinson Film Center will have a celebration of their own.

"The Robbys is our annual fundraiser, we always hold it the night before the Oscars," explains Meghan Hochstetler, executive director for the Robinson Film Center. "So it's kind of our way to celebrate the best in independent film, the best in independent film theaters

THE ROBBYS - Awards will be given out to attendees for such categories as "Best Dressed", "Best Hair", "Life of the Party", etc.

especially in downtown Shreveport. It's our way to help keep our doors opent for the next 12 months. But it's also just a fabulous party. So you get to have a great time, get dressed up, feel glamorous, and also give to a really good cause."

The Robbys has been billed as a glitzy glamorous party where attendees can have a real "red carpet experience" complete with paparazzi, champagne servings, crafted cocktails, food and silent auction. There will also be a one-in-a-lifetime experience as ladies will get an opportunity to try on a necklace valued at $1 million dollars.  And because it is a dressy affair, there will be Robby awards given out for those who stand out in certain categories.

"Those are for things like "best dressed" and "best hair", and "life of the party", and "best couple", explains Hochstetler. "Just some really fun awards that are maybe a little less prestigious than the Oscars to be given out the next night but just as fun."

The Robinson Film Center has been around for more than 10 years showing independent films and providing educational programs to area school children.  It is a non-profit arts organization dependent upon donations and support from special events like The Robbys.

"We could not exist, we could not be open without that kind of support,"explains Hochstetler. "If you like what we do, and think that we are important to our community (as we feel), please consider supporting us by buying a ticket and coming to this party."
