“Durable Art: The Timeless Relevance of Editorial Cartoons,” an NWLA Archives exhibition, will open October 20, 2025 on the 3rd floor of Noel Library. Featured are twenty-eight selected original cartoon drawings representing social, political, and economic issues of the 20th century in America from a local perspective. They are as relevant today as they were when they first appeared. The exhibition takes an interdisciplinary approach to foster understanding and critical thinking about the historical significance and cultural impact of editorial cartooning. Hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday until the end of the fall semester. Join us for a panel discussion, featuring LSUS faculty experts in Arts and Media, Literature, and History, on January 22, 2026 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Assembly Room, 3rd floor of Noel Library. All audiences are welcome and encouraged to engage in discussion.

Join the Scottish Society of the Louisiana Highlands at the 31st Annual Burns Supper, a spirited celebration honoring the life and legacy of Scotland’s beloved poet, Robert Burns. Expect kilts, tartans, good Scotch whisky, and lovers of all things Scottish. Festivities begin with a cocktail hour followed by the ceremonial piping in of the haggis and the iconic “Address to a Haggis.” Guests will enjoy a hearty dinner, raise toasts, and dance to live traditional music performed by Celtic band Emerald Accent. A silent auction will run throughout the evening, offering unique items and experiences. This event is open to all who like to laugh, hear the pipes, or wear a tartan! Tickets sales go live in November 2025.
