Ugly Tomatoes Taste Better: A Community Chat About OUR Food
Ugly Tomatoes Taste Better: A Community Chat About OUR Food
This food forum hosted by Slow Food North Louisiana features guest speaker David Shields, known in the food world as "the flavor saver" for his work championing heirloom foods, such as Carolina Gold Rice. He most recently authored The Ark of Taste book. David will help us better understand terms like biodiversity, heirloom and seed saving, things which are important to Slow Food USA and our local chapter.
There will be panels focused on local food production and consumption, featuring members of our local food ecosystem. There will be two breakout sessions on topics we think our food community will be excited to learn about, such as heated controversy around hot peppers, and African Diaspora foods we eat here daily. And lastly (maybe most importantly), there will be opportunities to taste some locally made products!
