2026 East Texas Pipe Organ Festival
2026 East Texas Pipe Organ Festival
The East Texas Pipe Organ Festival is presented annually in the East Texas cities of Kilgore and Longview and other cities including Shreveport, Louisiana. The festival was founded to honor the life and work of Roy Perry, a designer, finisher, and sales representative of the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company in the post-World War II era. This year’s organists performing on the 1959 Aeolian-Skinner at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Shreveport on Thursday, November 12 are Jeremy Filsell (at 10:30 am), Clive Driskill-Smith (at 1:30 pm), and Huw Lewis (at 3 pm). Jeremy Filsell’s program is from 20th Century American composers George Baker, Charles Callahan, Gerre Hancock, Gerald Near, Richard Purvis and Leo Sowerby. Clive Driskill-Smith will perform music by French organist Marcel Dupré and his students Demessieux, Langlais and Messiaen. Huw Lewis will perform music by Alain, Bach, Fedak, and Young. All three programs include works which were dedicated to William Teague, the organist at St. Mark's for many years. The entire 2026 festival runs from Sunday, November 8 through Thursday, November 12 at venues in Longview TX (First Baptist Church, Trinity Episcopal Church), Kilgore TX (First Presbyterian Church, St. Luke's Methodist Church) as well as Shreveport LA (St. Mark's Cathedral).
