NEW NSU PRESIDENT — Louisiana’s Northwestern State University in Natchitoches has chosen a new president. Dr. Marcus Jones is making history as the campus’ first Black leader. He was unanimously selected Monday as the 20th president for the Natchitoches school and its more than 10,000 students by the University of Louisiana System’s Board of Supervisors.
After the board’s decision, Jones was invited to make a comment.

"I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work in this process and I want to thank all of the members of the Northwestern family who came down to support me," Jones said. "I'm looking forward to working on behalf of the university to make it better."

President Jones has worked at Northwestern for 23 years, as a professor of business law and international business; vice president for university affairs; and executive vice president for university and business affairs. Most recently, he’s been working as interim president since July.
