LSU COVID CASES-   Officials  with Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge have reported Covid-19 cases have had a sharp jump among the student population over the past five days  as the school begins the in-person fall semester.  There were 47 coronavirus cases reported  between  August 15th to August 24th.  From August 25th to the 30th  182 new infections have been reported bringing the total to 229 positive Covid-19 cases among students, faculty, and staff.

According to an LSU spokesman – these new cases occurred even though testing was off-line at many of the school’s testing sites due to recent storms.    Most of the new cases were self-reported and not confirmed through on-campus test sites.

According to LSU, the on-campus students  who tested positive and don’t have another place to isolate include 13 students currently  in isolation and 10  in quarantine after coming in close contact with someone who tested positive… close contact is defined as spending 15 minutes or more within six-feet of someone who tested positive for the coronavirus.
