"Love-Bugs" Invade Arkansas, East Texas, and Louisiana

LOVE BUGS – Well you may be uncomfortable with this next story as it involves mass-copulation…IN PUBLIC.  I’m talking about the so-called LOVE BUG INVASION that everyone’s been complaining about.  You’ve undoubtedly seen these bugs everywhere, pairing off and doing their deed on your car,  front doorstep,  sidewalk,  just about any place outdoors. 

Well…fear not because the bugs along with their unabashed public activities are soon numbered. BEVERLY BURDEN, associate professor of Biology at LSU-Shreveport is an entomologist; that is to say she is a “BUG EXPERT”… she has been inundated with phone calls about the love bugs and had this to share with RED RIVER RADIO:

The lovebug is a species of march fly found in parts of Central America and the southeastern United States, especially along the Gulf Coast. It is also known as the honeymoon fly or double-headed bug
