ARKANSAS COVID-19 VACCINES— Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas says the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine has been “seamless” under the administration of President Joe Biden but he did say that getting all the doses allocated into the arms of Arkansans is a challenge. Appearing on the Sunday morning ABC news interview program “This Week” Hutchinson explained his state’s vaccination strategy.
“We're a rural state. And we don't want to do it just in our population center,”Hutchinson said. “Not as efficient, but it is fair because it gets it into the minority populations, the rural areas of our state, it's more fair, and that's what we're trying to accomplish.”

The state reported on Saturday that just shy of 300,000 of the 520,000 doses Arkansas has received of the coronavirus vaccine have been given which is about 60%. During his interview, Governor Hutchinson was also asked to comment on the Republican party’s reaction to the siege on the Nation’s Capitol three weeks ago and about former-President Donald Trump’s influence on the GOP going forward.
"(Former) President Trump has helped build the party in the last four years. I hope he does not help to destroy the party in the coming four years,” Hutchinson explained. “And we need to have a level of accountability. We also need to make sure that we don’t tear ourselves apart as we go into the midterm elections next year and beyond that.”
