Andy B

Host of Jazz Out!

Andy B was born and resides in Alexandria, La. He has served on the Red River Radio advisory board since 2001 (under an alter ego). Although he had always liked jazz and other forms of music, it was a concert at MacAlister Auditorium in New Orleans in the mid 1980's that really lit the fire. It was billed as the Wynton Marsalis Homecoming Concert. Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Tony Williams and a host of others were on the bill. It was his first time to hear live jazz of that caliber and it was a transformative experience. Several series of jazz concerts at Lincoln Center and many Jazz Fests later sealed the deal. Recurring guests spots on Wally Derleth's Evening Jazz allowed him opportunities to share music from his extensive jazz collection with listeners. Now on Jazz Out!, Andy B can delve deep into those CDs and also present new online offerings that he continually seeks out and discovers.

If asked he will say, "I'm not a musician, I'm not an expert, I'm just a guy who really loves this stuff." His guiding principal is "I like it, you might like it, too!"
