Hundreds of People came out for a public fireside chat at the Shreveport Convention Center on Thursday night, July 17, hosted by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
The media mogul delivered an updates on several state-backed, economic development projects – including renovation of Stageworks and Millennium Studios downtown.
50 Cent told the crowd he’s also invested $11 million of his own money into many of the 19 properties that his G-Unit enterprise has bought up. Among the people who turned out was Shreveport music producer, composer and sound engineer Tomi Gran. After the event, Gran said he especially appreciated the Q&A Period at the end. “Because you got to hear some of the stuff that people were feeling because people are looking for jobs, because there’s a lot of film industry crew here that have been here since the incentives changed and they just moved to Atlanta, like all these, all the studios moved to Atlanta when that happened the first time.”
The state of Louisiana has committed up to $50 million in state reimbursements for 50 Cent’s Shreveport projects, matched by $74 million in private investment.
