The Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Texas James Talarico speaks to supporters in East Texas on Thursday night. The event is being billed as part of a five-city bus tour to kick off his general election campaign. Even before the rally, the political contest has already led to attacks by him, and against him, involving his Republican opponent, three-term Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Talarico, himself a four-term Democratic State Representative, will be speaking at 7:00 p.m. at the Austin Hall & Event Center in Nacogdoches, Texas. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
While speaking with Red River Radio News ahead of the rally, Talarico addressed Paxton’s claims that he’s simply too liberal for Texas. “I’m not your typical Democrat. I believe in strong borders. I believe it protecting good paying oil and gas jobs in Texas. I believe in an all-of-the-above energy strategies. And so, that’s the kind of bipartisan record that I bring to this race.”
