The clock is ticking before the polls open at 7:00 a.m. (CST) Tuesday, May 26, for the Texas Primary Runoff Election. And while there’s plenty for election officials to think about, they urge voters to take just a few moments to prepare beforehand, as well.
That prep first and foremost involves visiting the website VoteTexas.gov. The site can inform you where you’re supposed to vote, and the seven accepted forms of photo identification, to name just two of its host of features.
Those seven IDs include a Texas Driver License, Texas Election ID Certificate, Texas Personal ID Card, Texas Handgun License, U.S. Citizenship Certificate with photo, U.S. Military ID Card, U.S. Passport (book or Card).
As Houston Public Media reports, for voters under the age of 70, that identification must be current or expired for no more than four years. For voters 70 and over, any form of acceptable photo I-D is valid, expired or not.
If they don’t possess one of the accepted forms of photo I-D, they can present one of several supporting forms of I-D and sign a reasonable impediment declaration. The list of possible supporting forms of I-D is also available at Vote-Texas-dot-gov. Polls close at 7 p-m local time.”
