A north Louisiana man is locked up in the Caddo Correctional Center this morning on a charge of second degree murder in the shooting death of a Vivian Police Officer. The shooting happened Friday afternoon, November 14, 2025, as the officer, 25-year-old Marc Brock, arrived at a home in the 1700 block of North Pine Street in Vivian, to service a warrant for cyberstalking to 58-year-old Nicolas Alexander.
According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Alexander fired several shots through the door, badly wounding officer Brock. He was rushed to North Caddo Medical Center, but later died. Authorities say Alexander proceeded to barricade himself inside the home, but surrendered peacefully two hours later.
The community helped organize a meal train for the family during their grieving. A candlelight vigil, organized by Brock's class of 2018, lit up the North Caddo Football Field Sunday night, November 16, 2025.
This vigil at the Sanders-Prudhomme Stadium on Airport Drive in Vivian became the second consecutive evening of such a gathering, as the community tries to come to grips with Brock’s death.
Quietly, at least at this point in the case before there’s even been time for a proper funeral services, some are questioning why Alexander would not face a charge of first degree murder. That’s because under Louisiana law, the murder of a law enforcement officer is one of the aggravating factors which can elevate a case to first degree murder, which can include the death penalty.
