The United Cajun Navy (UCN) from Louisiana is now helping fire victims in Los Angeles. The group’s President, Todd Terrell, says the organization has delivered truckloads of essential supplies, including tarps, personal protective equipment and hygiene kits.
As Joe Gallinaro with the Louisiana Radio Network (LRN) reports, Terrell explained their plan of action once they hit the ground in L.A. “First of all, we’re just getting supplies out there right away, that are more conducive to first responders and the people that are on the ground that are losing everything. They just need something to stabilize them, so we can pass the baton. We don’t plan on being out here for a few, maybe about ten days.”

The UCN is based in Baton Rouge and describes itself as a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that provides disaster relief and support during emergencies. According to the agency’s website unitedcajunnavy.org, support can range from search and rescue operations to delivering supplies and aiding recovery efforts. According to the agency’s Facebook page, UCN teams in California have unloaded more of their relief shipments in recent days, many in conjunction with the Dream Center, a nonprofit Christian Pentecostal network of community centers based in Los Angeles.
