Recent Rainfall Provides Drought Relief in Parts of Arkansas, Louisiana & Texas

Widespread rainfall with 1.5 to 3.0 totals fell from November 8th-10th in the region.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport reports that widespread rainfall of 1.50 to 3.00 inch totals fell from November 8-10 across extreme East Texas, portions of Southwest Arkansas, and much of North Louisiana. Even higher amounts of rainfall measuring 3-7+ inches have been observed across portions of Deep East TX and all of Central LA.
The NWS Shreveport office said look forr drought improvements across much of the region for this week's U.S. Drought Monitor.
According to the drought monitor, areas in yellow indicate places where grass fires increase, while in light brown designations reveal locations were farmer may plant fewer crops and the risk of fire increases. (see graphic below)

Areas of North Louisiana remain under a burn ban. Those include Caddo, Claiborne, Grant and Red River Parishes. That's according to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry. And in South Arkansas, Union County remains under a burn ban according to the Arkansas Forestry Commission.
