Dangerously cold weather and treacherous road conditions throughout the Red River Radio listening area have led authorities to issue a range of warnings and closures.
*The Annual Krewe of Harambee MLK Parade which had been planned for Monday [January 15] will now roll on Saturday [January 20], beginning at 11:00 a.m. on the same route.
* Sportran has canceled bus service for today. Limited on-demand transport will be provided for critical dialysis patients.
* Louisiana Downs Racetrack and Casino has also canceled live racing.
* Willis-Knighton Health System Quick Cares at Northwood, Palmetto, Stockwell, and Forbing are all closed, along with work care.
* All Willis-Knighton Wellness Centers and outpatient physical therapy locations are also closed.
* Willis-Knighton Quick Care Bossier, Pierremont, and South will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
* Ochsner LSU Health Urgent Care locations and clinics are closed. Outpatient and surgical procedures are canceled as well, with the exception of emergent and urgent cases.
* Caddo Parish Public Schools and district sites will be closed today and Wednesday.
* Bossier Parish Schools and centers will also be closed. Bossier Parish emergency management officials will decide by noon today about Wednesday.
* Bossier Parish Community College campuses in Bossier, Natchitoches, and Many will be closed today and tomorrow. Virtual classes will still meet, and student services will be available online.
* All Northwestern State University campuses will be closed today and tomorrow. Administrators will decide on Wednesday regarding classes for the remainder of the week. All essential employees should report if weather conditions permit. The NSU Campus dining facilities will have modified hours for residential students.
* Grambling State University will be closed today and Wednesday.
* LSU Health Shreveport and Monroe Campuses will be closed to all non-essential personnel. Students should not come to campus as there will be no on-site classes, lab/course, or clerkship responsibilities.
* And due to the weather and road closures, LSU Shreveport will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. While the campus is closed, online courses will continue as usual. Essential employees must still report to campus.
* Louisiana Tech University classes are also cancelled through Wednesday.
* The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) has announced closures of Interstate 49 in the urban areas of Shreveport.
* If you must travel, check 511LA.org for current road conditions. Motorists who do not need to travel are urged to stay off the roads.
