Caddo GOP Chair: Johnson's Ascension might attract businesses

NPR

Caddo Parish Republican chairman hopes the ascension of Rep. Mike Johnson to Speaker might have companies take another look at coming to Louisiana.

There appears to be widespread support locally for the ascension of Fourth District Congressman Mike Johnson to the speaker’s chair. Caddo Parish Republican Party Chairman Louis Avallone began listing a myriad of positive factors with Speaker Johnson. In fact, Avallone says the fact he became the new Speaker of the House could benefit Louisiana in ways people may not have considered yet. “I hope, and perhaps this is me being Pollyanna, or the glass is half full, but I hope that there are companies that look at Louisiana with renewed attention.”
Coming up Tuesday [October 31], on the Red River Radio morning newscasts, we will hear a much different perspective on Rep. Johnson becoming Speaker. A member of the LGBTQ+ community describes what some people fear Johnson’s speakership could ultimately lead to changes in the law for everything from same-sex marriage to abortion care.
