SWEPCO reports that nearly 3,000 workers have been mobilized to restore power to the storm-damaged areas across Northwest Louisiana, East Texas and Western Arkansas. As of Sunday, utility professionals which include resources from AEP Ohio, AEP Texas, Appalachian Power, Indiana & Michigan Power, and Kentucky Power as well as other mutual assistance partners from across the United States, were arriving and providing support.
Sunday evening an estimated 160,000 SWEPCO customers were still without power, but crews had returned power to 90,000. SWEPCO has posted these estimations for power to be restored to the following areas:
Natchitoches District in Louisiana – 10 p.m., Tuesday, June 20
Texarkana District in Texas – 10 p.m., Wednesday, June 21
Longview District in Texas – 10 p.m., Friday, June 23
Shreveport District in Louisiana – 10 p.m., Saturday, June 24
Cooling stations have been opened around the area for those who are still without power and need to get out of the heat. The American Red Cross has set up an overnight shelter at Morning Star Baptist Church Life Center at 5340 Jewella Ave., which also operates as a cooling center during the day for people to cool off, shower or charge electronics. People who stay overnight should bring blankets, pillows, clothing, personal items, medications, diapers for small children, and any other personal needs.

The Parish of Caddo has set up the following locations to provide free ice distribution today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.:

Oil City Community Center - 310 Savage Street, Oil City, LA
Greenwood Acres Life Center - 7530 Greenwood Rd, Shreveport, LA
YMCA of NWLA – 3455 Knight Street, Shreveport, LA
Southern University at Shreveport – 3050 MLK Drive, Shreveport, LA
Williams Memorial CME Temple - 3301 St. Matthias Drive, Shreveport, LA
Two bags of ice per vehicle will be distributed on a first come- first served basis. Ice coolers are recommended.
