LA Medicaid Recipients To Receive Eligibility Letters

file

LA MEDICAID LETTERS - Beginning this month, Medicaid recipients will begin to receive letters in the mail to verify whether or not they are still eligible for coverage. This is all part of a massive Medicaid disenrollment as states must now sort through who still qualifies for the mostly-federally-funded coverage over the next 12 months. Individuals who make too much money are supposed to be culled from Medicaid. Louisiana Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards signed up for the state’s Medicaid Expansion immediately after taking office in 2016. In a video news release – Edwards is urging those currently on Medicaid to be on the lookout for their Medicaid Eligibility Letters.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards is urging all Medicaid recipients to fill out and return their eligibility letters as soon as they receive them.

“This process will spread out over 12 months so not everyone will get their letter at the same time,” Edwards explained. “But when you do, you need to reply right away. If you don’t reply you could lose your coverage even if you are eligible.”

About 42% of Louisiana residents, receive Medicaid benefits which is approximately 2 million people. Estimates are about 355,000 Louisianans are expected to fall off Medicaid rolls over the next year.
