Tornadoes Touch Down In South Shreveport, LA and Kellyville, TX

SEVERE WEATHER -  Severe weather struck much of the Red River Radio listening area yesterday evening and well into the night time hours. At around 5:40pm a tornado struck South Shreveport near LSUS, just south of the Red River Radio studios on Youree Drive and Sofia Lane in the South Broadmoor neighborhood. According to the Shreveport Times -- Shreveport police and the Caddo Parish Sheriff Office set up a command center at a church off Youree Drive ., There were reports of damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles.

There were reports of downed trees and power outages. SWEPCO is currently working to restore power the affected areas. LSUS’s Health and Physical Education Building sustained light roof damage.. Also in South Shreveport, there have been reports of storm damage around the 12 Oakes Subdivision. No word on the strength of the tornado. The silver lining to all this is that no serious injuries or deaths have been reported. All planned activities and classes for LSUS will resume today.

In East Texas storm damage was reported near Kellyville a community between Marshall and Jefferson. Crews have been out removing downed trees and debris on the roadways. National Weather Service storm surveyors will be out checking reports of tornado damage in Marion and Harrison Counties.
