Arkansas Governor's Tourism Conference To Be Held In El Dorado Feb. 26-28

ARK GOVERNOR’S TOURISM CONFERENCE- The city of El Dorado, Arkansas is sprucing things up around town and getting ready for the 49th annual Arkansas Governor's Conference on Tourism, which will be held Feb. 26 - 28. The annual conference is presented by the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism and is considered the premier tourism event in the Natural State.

One of the aims of the conference is to celebrate tourism and highlight its impact as one of the top industries in Arkansas. Beth Brumley is executive director for Main Street El Dorado and was on the steering committee that brought the event to the city. She explains why tourism conference is a big deal.

“Well a lot of times people don’t know there’s much below Little Rock in the state of Arkansas, so we’re super excited,” Brumley said. “And of course it brings so many people to El Dorado that maybe not have been here before and we always like experience to be a good one so hopefully they’ll return.”

The Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism will kick off Sunday evening at 5:30 with exhibits from the South Arkansas Arts Center, a live art demonstration, and a performance by the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. The event will run through Tuesday and there will be special ceremonies. Chuck Smith brings more than 30 years' broadcast and media experience to Red River Radio. He began his career as a radio news reporter and transitioned to television journalism and newsmagazine production. Chuck studied mass communications at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and motion picture / television production at the University of California at Los Angeles. He has also taught writing for television at York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina and video / film production at Centenary College of Louisiana, Shreveport.
