Community Foundation of North Louisiana's Give For Good Campaign
GIVE FOR GOOD - The annual “Give For Good” campaign is North Louisiana’s largest giving event that highlights an opportunity for people to contribute to any number of non-profit community service organizations. It’s a 24-hour special online event Kristina Gustavson is the Chief Executive Officer for the Community Foundation of North Louisiana.
“The Community Foundation has been putting this event on for a number of years and it supports non-profits in the community. It allows them to raise unrestricted dollars for the great work that they do,” Gustavson said. “ We have so many non-profits in this community that really not only change the lives of our most vulnerable citizens but enhances the lives of all of us.”
There are over 220 non-profit organizations that are participating in the “Give For Good” campaign this year and while the 24-hour Give for Good one-day event actually takes place on May 3rd, early giving can be done starting today. Donations can be made online and Gustavson says the online method allows donors to search for groups who work in specific areas.
“If you can online shop then you can support your local non-profit,” Gustavson explained. “You can search by topic or by cause or you can search by agency. Each of the agencies put on the website about the work that they’re doing and so they can tell you how your dollars will be used to support their work.”
Gustavson says donors can support multiple groups through the website. Last year’s “Give For Good” campaign in North Louisiana set a record for raising more than 2-point-2 million dollars, and hopes are that record will be broken this year.
