ANNOUNCING A RUN FOR MAYOR - Shreveport Attorney Tom Arceneaux who announced his intention to run for Mayor of Shreveport - The Republican made his announcement yesterday evening on Facebook in a live-streamed video on his new candidate page.
Arceneaux is no stranger to politics as he served as a city councilman from 1982 to 1990. He's also a former assistant city attorney for the City of Shreveport. And he's been active in civic causes. During his announcement, Arceneaux cited Shreveport’s population decline over the years and outlined things such as crime and urban blight as major reasons.
"If you look at the (U.S.) Census from 2010 to 2020, you'll see that people have voted with their feet," Arceneaux said. "What that means is there were people that were living here that have chosen not to live here anymore."
Arceneaux is an attorney, specializing primarily in commercial and government law, for the firm Blanchard, Walker, O'Quin & Roberts, which is an underwriter for Red River Radio. He faces incumbent Democrat Adrian Perkins and Republican Caddo Parish Commissioner Jim Taliaferro who ran for mayor in 2018.
