HEAT ADVISORY - Hot weather is making the news this morning – the forecast is for sunny and hot conditions today -- Senior Meteorologist Michael Berry  with the National Weather Service in Shreveport reports some areas will feel warmer than others.

"Temperatures today and really through the remainder of the week will be in the upper 90's," Berry said. "Today we do have a heat advisory that does not include the Shreveport-Bossier metro area but it does include parts of deep east Texas and parts of west central and east central Louisiana."

Slightly lower humidity levels will result in heat indices ranging from 100 to 105 degrees this afternoon south of Interstate 20 but overall it will be hot throughout the Red River Radio listening area.

"You'll want to stay very well hydrated and stay indoors if you can," Berry explained. "If you cannot, remember to drink plenty of fluids and try to take breaks, if you can take breaks inside for a short amount of time.  If your job requires you to stay outside, that would be ideal."

And you’ll want to check on elderly  relatives and neighbors  and provide plenty of shade and water for your pets.  And  don’t  leave anyone in a parked car even  with windows cracked  as temperatures  can  reach  deadly levels  in  a matter  of minutes.
