ARK COVID FUNDING - Last week the Arkansas CARES Act Steering Committee  voted to approve a $50 million dollar request from the State Department of Human Services,  money that would go to  hospitals and nursing homes all across Arkansas  to help better deal with the surge in Covid-19 cases.  The money is just a part of the $1.2 billion dollars the state received from the federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act.  But administrators who want to get their share of the funding have a deadline meet as DHS Secretary Cindy Gillespie explained during the Zoom Committee Meeting last Wednesday.

"They would have to notify (DHS) by December 7th as to whether or not they need that full allocation and they could expend that fund for eligible purposes by December 30th," Gillespie said.

Because  CARES Act funds are federal funds, they  must be allocated  and spent  by  December 31st.
