FOOTBALL N AMERICA - Drew Brees, NFL Quarterback for the New Orleans Saints paid a visit to Shreveport yesterday afternoon. Appearing before a packed auditorium at LSUS, Brees made his appearance before parents and kids who have participated in the Football N America Flag Football program, in which Brees is a co-founder.
"The highlight of my day was being able to come up here to Shreveport to spend time with our Football N America flag football league," Brees said. "(It's) an opportunity to talk about the league and why we established the league, and really the idea that we're trying to create the best youth football experience we can for the kids through FNA flag football, but also create the ultimate family experience. "

This coming year marks Bree’s 13th season with the Saints and 18th overall playing in the National Football League. The champion quarterback reflected on how playing flag football as a youngster influenced his athletic journey and what it means to him as a parent to see his kids play the game.
"I played flag football all the way up until 9th grade," explained Brees."so 9th grade, my freshman year was the first time I ever put pads on. And yet I feel flag football really helped prepare me for that. But I played flag football in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. When I think about that I say 'wow' playing those three years of organized football before going to high school; we're offering this starting at kindergarten. So all my boys started playing in kindergarten and to watch their skill development from playing the game at that early of an age, in a safe, fun, family-friendly environment like we create, is awesome."

Brees spent time taking questions from the audience and posed for pictures with parents and kids. The Football N America Flag Football Program is a non-contact youth co-ed flag football league for children in grades K-10. And if you’d like to learn more, the website is: www.playfna.com
