SHREVEPORT SUMMER INTERNSHIP - College and High School Students in Shreveport looking for a Summer job have some new opportunities with the City of Shreveport. At a press conference yesterday - Mayor Adrian Perkins announced a new summer internship opportunity: dubbed the Future Leaders of Shreveport Summer Internship Program or FLOSSIP for short. Perkins explained the motivation behind the program.
"I too often hear and I've seen with my own eyes and many of you know that we lose a lot of our talent outside of our city," Perkins said. "This program signals to future generations that the city cares about them and that there are opportunities for them to work and serve right here at home."
Eligibility requirements include that applicants must

be of “working age” and enrolled either in High School or College. Also the program is open to older students who have returned to school. Pay-range for the jobs will be $10 per hour for high school students and college students will receive $12 per hour, each will have a 30 hour work week for 8 weeks beginning June 3rd, internships will be throughout several city departments as well as with the city council. Perkins said he expects to fill 100 internships but hopes the program will grow even larger in the future. For more information: Shreveportla.gov CLICK Summer Internship Banner.
