GOV SHUTDOWN A DOWNER FOR CONSUMERS? A Texas economist predicts a government shutdown mixed with market uncertainty could impact the state’s economy by driving down consumer confidence.   Economist Ray Perryman with the Perryman Group in Waco, Texas --says a shutdown combined with public concerns over a possible trade war with China, federal investigations and a rollercoaster stock market can all affect the health of Texas businesses.

“People all doing all their last minute Christmas shopping and like everything else, how you 'feel' about the economy impacts how much you’re willing to spending in the economy," explained Perryman. "Those kind of things can easily happen”

Perryman also  says that the investigation of President Trump and what that might lead to, creates market  uncertainty. President Trump said Congress has until Friday to approve  his US-Mexico border wall funding request otherwise a partial government shutdown could occur as a result.
