LA FILM PRIZE - 20 filmmaker finalists for this year’s Louisiana Film Prize were announced Friday at a special event that took place at the Robinson Film Center. This is the seventh annual film prize competition that has the largest cash-prize in the country and according to a press release, a record breaking number of films were entered this year. One of those filmmakers to have a film selected among the top 20 finalists was Bossier resident Kyle Kleinecke who shared his thoughts with Red River River on why he participated in the event.
"The Louisiana Film Prize is amazing because it gives a huge platform for up and coming filmmakers to show their work," said Kleinecke.
This is the third time Kleinecke has entered a film in the Louisiana Film Prize. He hopes his work on shorter films will lead to bigger projects.
"Making short films is like doing your homework for the big final exam which would be making a feature film." Kleinecke explained, "The dream is to turn this expensive hobby into a full time career."
Kleinecke directed the Film “Sparky and Butch”, a fictional comedy about two retired police officers who
still fight for justice despite they’re being well past their prime. You can see this and the 19 other short films that will be shown Oct 3rd through the 7th for more info PrizeFest.org
