Will Louisiana Election Season Spur On a "Blue Wave"?

LOUISIANA BLUE WAVE? -  Election season for Louisiana  is  officially underway, as qualifying for the fall election ended Friday, July 20.   On November 6th  Voters in Louisiana will head to the polls to  choose  the  state’s six members in the US House of Representatives and the Secretary of State in Louisiana.  Now other states have experienced a so-called “Blue Wave” meaning that there has been a surge in voters choosing Democrats over Republicans in recent special state elections.   So this begs the question,  Will  Louisiana have a similar Blue Wave come November 6th?

Jeremy Alford, is publisher and editor of "LA Politics",

Jeremy Alford, publisher of LA Politics

Louisiana political trade publication.  He   shared his observations with Public Radio’s WRKF in Baton Rouge.

“You know there is kind of a ‘Blue Wave’ that other states are experiencing;  it’s serious enough that Republicans are worried," explained Alford. "But Louisiana is a solidly-Republican state, and quite frankly we’re just not seeing any signs of that trend.”

Alford did say that of all the races to watch,  the statewide Secretary of State race will probably get the most focus as it was vacated when incumbent Tom Schedler resigned last May amid sexual harassment allegations.
