SURVIVING THE TERROR So what would you do if you were in the middle of a concert, shopping mall or attending church… and suddenly someone starts shooting? What would you do? This is just one of many potential scenarios to be presented at a special event by the Bossier Sheriff’s Dept. Major Bruce Teutsch with the Bossier Sheriff’s academy explains more. "The presentation is called 'Surviving the Terror'; it's going to be Dec. 4th at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton from 6 to 8pm." Teutsch added "The purpose of the class is to let people know how they can be aware of their surroundings, take care of themselves in a situation where there's a lot of people, a public gathering, sporting event, concert, someting like that. If something were to happen, whether it be man-made or natural disaster, what they can do take care of themselves and get out of harm's way as quickly as possible. " This event was put together in response to public inquiry in light of recent tragic events such as the mass shootings in Las Vegas , Nevada and Sutherland Springs, Texas.
Asked what are some basic tips people could consider if ever confronted with similar scenarios, Teutsch replied " With things like that, we have three things: run, hide, or fight. If something bad happens, if you can get away from it, do that. If you can't get away immediately try to hide from it and the last resort, try to fight."
