LSU-HSC Shreveport Offers Mini Med School in August

MINI MED SCHOOL -  LSU Health Shreveport will open its doors to the community at Mini Med School, with sessions kicking off Aug. 1.  During this four-week program, held from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 22, LSU Health faculty will discuss interesting health topics and offer participants hands-on activities and demonstrations that doctors and other healthcare professionals receive during their training.   Dr. Joe McCulloch is Dean for the School of Allied Health Professions and explains the purpose of the Mini Med School is to offer persons interested in healthcare professions to get to experience the type of training doctors receive and get an idea of what goes into the running of a major healthcare facility.   Cost of Mini Med School is $40 for first-time participants, which includes a white lab coat and all four sessions. Chuck Smith brings more than 30 years' broadcast and media experience to Red River Radio. He began his career as a radio news reporter and transitioned to television journalism and newsmagazine production. Chuck studied mass communications at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and motion picture / television production at the University of California at Los Angeles. He has also taught writing for television at York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina and video / film production at Centenary College of Louisiana, Shreveport.
