Amendment 2 Fails, La. Higher Ed Braces For More Cuts

CHANGES FOR HIGHER ED IN LOUISIANA: Amendment 2 was defeated Nov. 8th as 57% of Louisiana voters were against taking tuition-setting authority from the state legislature and giving it to higher education leadership.  Louisiana is one of two states in the U.S. that requires legislature approval and education officials feel this makes their job more difficult especially considering more cuts to higher ed are on the way to help offset the state budget deficit of $315 million dollars ending FY 2016.
