Genetically Modified Mosquitoes For Fighting Zika?

MODIFIED MOSQUITOES - KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Matthew Woolard with the department of Microbiology and Immunology / LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport will be the keynote speaker at an event focusing on bio-engineered mosquitoes as a means of fighting the spread of disease such as malaraia,  Zika, West Nile Virus  and more.  This event will be held at SCI-PORT in Shreveport, La on Saturday, September 17th from 6pm - 8:30pm.  For more information,  go to http://sci-port.org .

GENETIC ENGINEERING - Scientists are now able to modify DNA in mosquitoes with a "suicide gene" to control their population and fight disease.

Chuck Smith brings more than 30 years' broadcast and media experience to Red River Radio. He began his career as a radio news reporter and transitioned to television journalism and newsmagazine production. Chuck studied mass communications at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and motion picture / television production at the University of California at Los Angeles.
