Continue the conversation in 2021: StoryCorps Selects Shreveport for National Initiative to Reconnect a Divided America.
Shreveport is one of four cities in which StoryCorps is anchoring One Small Step in 2021 with more opportunities to record, share, and preserve conversations that show the country how Louisianians can listen to each other in spite of their differences of opinion. Read about the national effort in The Shreveport Times.
Red River Radio led the project in 2020, recording 25 interviews with community members, and will continue to share new One Small Step stories from Shreveport in 2021. Listen to some of those stories HERE.
Due to continued demand and opportunity, StoryCorps will continue providing virtual recording opportunities, sharing stories and bringing community members together to share ways that we can connect.
If you already signed up, but have not been matched yet, you are still in the pool to participate! StoryCorps will contact and schedule you to record when they find the right conversation partner for you.
If you have not signed up yet, you can do so here.
“Our research shows there is something special about Shreveport. Even following a contentious election, we believe Shreveport residents can show the rest of America that we can once again be neighbors and communities if we have the courage to listen to one another,” said StoryCorps Founder and President Dave Isay.
StoryCorps wants to activate Shreveport’s communities around this effort. To achieve this, StoryCorps is seeking community partners that represent various political backgrounds and who can recruit, orient, then enroll their constituents in recording interviews. If you are interested in working side-by-side with StoryCorps to make these exciting and enriching conversations come to life, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
