Louisiana Public Square: “Hacked!”

Airs Sunday, March 8, 2020, at 6 p.m. Last July, five Louisiana public school districts were hit by computer hackers who infected the networks with ransomware viruses. Then in November, multiple state websites were attacked, triggering a shutdown of servers and a disruption of some services. Just within the last three months, hackers shut down government computers in New Orleans, the Sheriff’s Office in Rapides Parish and St. Landry Parish Schools.

So, how vulnerable are Louisiana’s computer systems to hacking? How can the state and its residents protect personal information from being compromised? And how is Louisiana helping meet the demand for cybersecurity experts? Louisiana Public Square looks for answers to these questions and more on “Hacked!” Wednesday, February 26 at 7pm on LPB and in New Orleans on WLAE.

The panelists are:
• Ron Andrews, Check Point Software Technologies
• Maj. Alan Dunn, LSU Stephenson Technologies Corporation
• Craig Spohn, Cyber Innovation Center
• Neal Underwood, Deputy Chief Information Officer, State of Louisiana
