The From The Top Alumni String Quartet To Appear Saturday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m.  Broadcast from Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, this program was recorded at the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church on December 18. The quartet consists of 22-year-old violinist Tessa Lark from Cincinnati, OH, 19-year-old violinist Ryan Shannon from Boulder, CO, 18-year-old violist Clayton Penrose-Whitmore from Evanston, IL, and 22-year-old cellist Michael Dahlberg from Philadelphia, PA. All quartet members study at the New England Conservatory.

On the show the quartet performs the second movement from String Quartet No.1 by George Walker. Also on the broadcast; 17-year-old bassoonist Alexandra Nelson from Orleans, Massachusetts performing “Aria” from Sonatine for Bassoon and Piano by Alexandre Tansman, accompanied by host Christopher O’Riley on the piano; and the Boston Children’s Chorus performing “Allelulia” by Randall Thompson, the traditional "My Soul's Been Anchored In The Lord," arranged by Moses Hogan, “In His Care-O” arranged by William Dawson, and “I’ll Fly Away,” a gospel hymn by Albert E. Brumley.  This show, presented by the Boston Children’s Chorus, honored the legacy of Dr. King with a wonderful line-up of music and young people who reflect his ideals and hope for a better world.
