LA COVID VACCINES — Louisiana's state epidemiologist and her 12-year-old daughter are stressing the need for people to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Theresa Sokol and her daughter Elise spoke at a Thursday news conference with Gov. John Bel Edwards in Baton Rouge. Elise talked about being part of a clinical trial for a vaccine and shared her Covid vaccine experience.
"; . . .I felt a lot better the next day and it's just like after all that, I still feel really grateful that I was able to contribute to this really important study." Elise Sokol, participant in Covid vaccine clinical trial
"I ended up waking up in the middle of the night not feeling great and I just didn't really feel myself," Elise explained. "But it was really interesting because I felt a lot better the next day and it's just like after all that, I still feel really grateful that I was able to contribute to this really important study."

State officials are now promoting vaccinations for children as young as 12. Edwards, meanwhile, says the state's vaccination rate remains too low. He said he is looking at possible incentive programs to encourage people to get vaccinated.
