Spotlight: A Merry Tuba Christmas

Host Kermit Poling speaks with Crozet Duplantier about the coming Merry Tuba Christmas event, scheduled for this Saturday at the Caddo Common Park at 11am. Low brass players from around the region will gather and all are invited regardless of skill level.

This is a community gathering of “low brass” and “High Holiday Spirits!” You’ve been singing the Holiday songs for years, now you are going to play them…along with 100 other Tuba lovers!

Here’s the Schedule for Saturday, December 16:

9:15 am: All participants will Sign In and receive their button/hat at the Municipal Auditorium – just across the street from the Park on Elvis Presley Blvd. - beginning at 9:15 am.
10:00 am – 11:30 am:  Rehearsal with conductor Dr. David Hobson
11:30 - 11:50: Performance by The Holiday Horns, including members of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.
11:30 am:  Snack/Restroom Break
11:45 am:  Walk to the Caddo Common Park (1 block away) for the performance.
12:00 noon – 1:00 pm: MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS Concert with fun moments in between songs. 

This 2023 holiday season marks the 50th year of MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS and we hope this will become an annual Shreveport tradition. Please mark your calendars now, and let your students and community know about this exciting and fun community event. Now, let’s get you registered for a MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS!
