As spring bows out and summer begins, the James Smith Noel Collection is opening a new exhibit that showcases not only the floral beauty of the rose, but also its historical and cultural significance. Come see our collection of materials from the 17th through the 20th centuries that not only showcase the stunning beauty of roses but also their influence, including a look at the English Civil War known as the War of the Roses; literary works inspired by roses and gardens; and a view of the rose window in Gothic architecture.
We are delighted to announce the grand opening of THE MARKET @ NHUMC, a new farmers market in the Shreveport/Bossier Community. The Market will open on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to enjoy fresh, local, produce from great vendors. You will also find artisanal breads, cheeses, jams, honey, and more. Come and support our local farmers and small businesses while enjoying live music, tasty food, and much more. The market will be open every Saturday (rain or shine) from 9 am to 1 pm at 835 Poleman Road (at the intersection of Poleman Road and Cornell) in the North Highlands United Methodist Church parking area. An exhibition of oil paintings, graphic works and found object sculpture by Dr. Pat Sewell will open with an artist's reception on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 from 4:30 to 7 pm. The display will be on display through Feb. 28, 2024 in the museum's West Wing Galleries.

From 7 PM - 9:30 PM, Manifest, a Shreveport-based artist collective, will host one of its signature open jams and art breakouts.
Slive will take the stage from 9:30 PM - 10 PM, performing tracks from his latest album, “Underdog,” an original soundtrack for Suzan-Lori Parks’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Topdog/Underdog.”
To kick off the evening he will also present an original short play, “Couch Potato,” which tells the story of a man who travels back in time to find himself.
Slive’s performance is one in a series of Manifest Spotlight Sets highlighting prominent active members of Manifest Art Collective.
