Briarhill Farms in Ruston hosts goat milk fudgy farmers market

Briarhill Farms

Ruston, La., farmer Lorrie Faber quit her full-time job eight months ago to focus on her budding side business. She makes about 40 pounds of goat milk fudge each week for sale at local stores. Faber’s 11 dairy goats have opened up a new career path for her and the direction of her seventh generation Briarhill Farms.

“Some fudges tend to be hard or grainy, the goat milk fudge is a softer fudge and has a more creamy texture," Faber said.

Faber is hosting a farmers’ and artists’ market Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to noon. She’ll have vendors from the Ruston Farmers Market -- in its off season -- set up alongside her goat milk fudge and soaps, gluten-free baked goods and eggs. Faber said she’ll also throw a children’s tea party 10 a.m.

The 54-acre Briarhill Farms is located between Ruston and Grambling on Highway 80 West.
