In perfect timing with duck hunting season, the Super Retriever Series is hosting their Crown Championship in Shreveport starting October 26.

The Super Retriever Series is a competition where dogs can flex their retrieving skills and compete in a series of games. Shannon Nardi, owner of SRS, says the event is good for outdoors enjoyers.

"It’s really good for anybody that’s really involved in the outdoors.," says Nardi. "You know, Louisiana is the Sportsman’s Paradise. Like in the retriever trials, these dogs are basically duck hunting all winter. It’s an outdoorsman-type sport."

The Super Retriever Series sprung from the ESPN Great Outdoors games in 2001. Nardi says the past 20 years of games have built quite a following, and they are excited to bring it to Shreveport.

"These dogs are very highly bred. They are extremely highly titled. It’s pretty popular," Nardi says.

The event is completely free for viewing. She says the games are like a “dog Superbowl."

“Come bring a chair and watch. It’s a good thing to do if you don’t have anything to do!” she says.
