Airs Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 1 p.m. This season opener conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin features the music of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and Bernstein's symphonic arrangements of his music for On the Waterfront and West Side Story. Soloists are pianists Lang Lang and Chick Corea, as well as 14-year-old Maxim Lando. The young pianist joined in on a two-piano arrangement of Rhapsody.

Airs Thursday, July 23, at 9 p.m. Introducing Marcus Roberts and The Modern Jazz Generation. Roberts’ new 11-piece ensemble - featuring many of his younger protégé - perform original material by Roberts and the music of Jelly Roll Morton, Chick Corea, and Horace Silver. We speak to Roberts and the members of the ensemble about the formation of the band in Tallahassee, Florida and explore what it means to teach jazz through mentorship.

Airs Monday, January 28 at 9 p.m. Thirty years after presenting its first concerts in San Francisco, the organization SFJAZZ has built a permanent home and performance venue. For its opening gala, grand masters  will rub shoulders with modern stars and the SFJAZZ Collective. This historic opening night concert of the San Francisco Jazz Center will feature an all-stars McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, Bobby Hutcherson, Esperanza Spalding, Mary Stallings, John Handy, Pete Escovedo, Regina Carter, Bill Frisell, Jason Moran, John Santos, and Miguel Zenon.  Bill Cosby is the on stage host. WWOZ's Sondra Bibb and WBGO's Josh Jackson are the broadcast hosts.
